Family Guy: “Chick Cancer”
It really seems that in the past few episodes of Family Guy this season we’ve really had a large gap between Stewie/Brian and the rest of the family. I actually miss seeing Stewie interact with Peter, because when they do it’s usually hilarious.
This time Stewie is reunited with an old character from an earlier Family Guy entitled “From Method to Madness.? Her name is Olivia. She’s become a huge TV star and Stewie wants to give her a piece of his mind, because he hated her, until he sees her that is. To Stewie she’s gorgeous, so instead of
hating her, Stewie becomes completely infatuated with her.
Stewie falling in love this time reminds me of the time Stewie fell in love with Janet. He falls fast and hard. It’s funny how the entire time we think Stewie is some kind of baby genius, but for some reason can never grasp the simplicities of life. I loved when Stewie changed into a bad ass to impress Olivia. When he compared her to Ray Liotta, was one of the best moments of the episode. Also, Stewie trying to act older was great.
He ended up collecting all of Brian’s leftover hair and sticking it on his body to make it appear like he had pubes, chest hair, and armpit hair. “Here I am, with my pubes…stickin’ out.?
Over on the Peter side of things…Peter becomes engrossed with watching chick flicks, and so he ends up making his own. The thing I’m really starting to not like about the Peter situation is that
the stories between Peter and Stewie/Brian are becoming so far apart that it seems like we’re watching two separate shows. This episode Brian and Stewie never even interacted with Peter and Lois.
I’m surprised they’ve kept Drew Barrymore’s character around as long as they have, especially because she’s not really doing anything anymore. I just can’t help but wonder how much they are shilling out to her to come in and record lines like, “Hello Oogie,? and “I’m scared.?
The references were great. Chester Cheeto was the best one by far. Snorting lines of powdered cheese. The Star Wars one was good, but needed some sort of quirky ending. I’m reminded of the light saber through the eye of a poor woman undergoing laser eye surgery, now that was hilarious.
Yet again Stewie and Brian carried this episode. Mostly Stewie actually. The Peter story really didn’t even belong and almost seemed like filler at times.
