It’s For Charity

by Staff Writer

Ever wanted to talk to Seth McFarlane over Skype? Well, here’s your chance. Over on Ebay they’re doing an auction of Celebrities for 10 minutes of real one-on-one talk time with whomever you bid on.

Since I probably won’t be able to get 451press.com to front the money for me to bid on these auctions I’ll have to settle for being jealous of the people that have enough money to bid on stuff like this.

But, it’s all for charity so if you have the money sitting somewhere burning a hole in your pocket and you’ve always wanted to chat with Seth, then give it a bid.

Sad But True

by Staff Writer

It would seem, according to the Wikipedia episode list, that there will be a new Family Guy on December 17th then nothing until January of 2007.

All these hiatuses in TV it’s too hard to keep track of. At least Family Guy’s really won’t be THAT long. It just seems long because it won’t technically be on until next year.

I hate waiting more than one week for a new Family Guy, but what are you going to do?…Me…I’m gonna go break out the Vol. 4 DVDs and get my fix that way.

Wikipedia Episode List…”Freakin’ Sweet!”

by Staff Writer

I’ve been meaning to do this post for a while now.

Over on Wikipedia (one of my favorite sites BTW) they have an insanely detailed episode list of every Family Guy episode ever aired, and if that doesn’t knock your socks off, they have listed every episode that is yet to air for the present season.

How they got the information on ALL the upcoming episodes is a mystery to me, but if it’s all true it’s quite the guide to find out what’s coming up even before your TV guide can tell you.

For example in two weeks an episode called ‘Road to Rupert’ is going to air:

Rupert gets sold at a garage sale, and Stewie attempts to retrieve him.

Another ‘Road to…’ episode, those are always hilarious! Go on read all the way down the list. See if any of the upcoming episodes catch your eye. I’ll tell you what, the season finale really catches mine…(read it you’ll understand why I say that).

Family Guy: “Chick Cancer”

by Staff Writer

It really seems that in the past few episodes of Family Guy this season we’ve really had a large gap between Stewie/Brian and the rest of the family. I actually miss seeing Stewie interact with Peter, because when they do it’s usually hilarious.

This time Stewie is reunited with an old character from an earlier Family Guy entitled “From Method to Madness.? Her name is Olivia. She’s become a huge TV star and Stewie wants to give her a piece of his mind, because he hated her, until he sees her that is. To Stewie she’s gorgeous, so instead of hating her, Stewie becomes completely infatuated with her.

Stewie falling in love this time reminds me of the time Stewie fell in love with Janet. He falls fast and hard. It’s funny how the entire time we think Stewie is some kind of baby genius, but for some reason can never grasp the simplicities of life. I loved when Stewie changed into a bad ass to impress Olivia. When he compared her to Ray Liotta, was one of the best moments of the episode. Also, Stewie trying to act older was great.

He ended up collecting all of Brian’s leftover hair and sticking it on his body to make it appear like he had pubes, chest hair, and armpit hair. “Here I am, with my pubes…stickin’ out.?

Over on the Peter side of things…Peter becomes engrossed with watching chick flicks, and so he ends up making his own. The thing I’m really starting to not like about the Peter situation is that the stories between Peter and Stewie/Brian are becoming so far apart that it seems like we’re watching two separate shows. This episode Brian and Stewie never even interacted with Peter and Lois.

I’m surprised they’ve kept Drew Barrymore’s character around as long as they have, especially because she’s not really doing anything anymore. I just can’t help but wonder how much they are shilling out to her to come in and record lines like, “Hello Oogie,? and “I’m scared.?

The references were great. Chester Cheeto was the best one by far. Snorting lines of powdered cheese. The Star Wars one was good, but needed some sort of quirky ending. I’m reminded of the light saber through the eye of a poor woman undergoing laser eye surgery, now that was hilarious.

Yet again Stewie and Brian carried this episode. Mostly Stewie actually. The Peter story really didn’t even belong and almost seemed like filler at times.

Family Guy Creator Won’t Let His Children Watch

by Staff Writer

David Goodman, one of the creators of Family Guy, says that he won’t let his 10 and 7 year old even watch the show.

He said that the show dealt with too many complex issues about sex, religion, and war to be suitable for children.

I personally think he’s right. Just because Family Guy is a cartoon doesn’t mean that it’s for kids. Cartoons like Family Guy, The Simpsons, and South Park aren’t for children. They deal with issues in society that children cannot comprehend when watching the shows. Children cannot understand what satire is.

I’m reminded of the 60 Minutes interview that Stephen Colbert did. He said that he didn’t let his children watch his show, The Colbert Report, because of the character he played. The character that Colbert plays on the screen is vastly different from the person he is in real life, but he doesn’t think that his children would be able to tell that daddy is just putting on a show.

This really all brings us back to the age old issue that parents are responsible for what their children are watching. It’s not the TV network’s job to censor everything out there so it’s wholesome for everyone.
